{"id":757,"date":"2020-03-29T13:27:45","date_gmt":"2020-03-29T13:27:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/intv.pk\/spanish-pm-announces-stricter-lockdown-measures-to-tackle-coronavirus\/"},"modified":"2020-03-29T13:27:45","modified_gmt":"2020-03-29T13:27:45","slug":"spanish-pm-announces-stricter-lockdown-measures-to-tackle-coronavirus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intv.pk\/?p=757","title":{"rendered":"Spanish PM announces stricter lockdown measures to tackle coronavirus"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div class=\"K2FeedImage\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/intv.pk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/51aeb53e9ca5eaa1fc5a628c9f3cdff2_M.jpg\" alt=\"Spanish PM announces stricter lockdown measures to tackle coronavirus\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"K2FeedIntroText\">Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Saturday announced stricter lockdown measures that will force all non-essential workers to stay at home for the next two weeks, as the government reported 832 new coronavirus deaths overnight.<\/div>\n<div class=\"K2FeedFullText\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The latest moves to combat the virus in Spain, the second-worst affected country in Europe after Italy, will be approved at a cabinet meeting on Sunday and will last from March 30 until April 9.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&ldquo;This decision allows us to reduce the number of infected people to a much greater extent,&rdquo; Sanchez said in a televised address to the nation.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over the next few days Spain would be making a &ldquo;powerful collective effort&rdquo;, he said, adding that the new measures would have the effect of extending the Easter holidays.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Workers would receive their usual salaries but would have to make up lost hours at a later date, he said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sanchez also used the address to urge the European Union to act and called for a &ldquo;united economic and social strategy&rdquo;.
